The blind fitting begins when you measure blinds. Taking time to measure blinds carefully and accurately will pay dividends and allow the whole blind fitting process to proceed smoothly and with minimum stress. To measure blinds can be as simple as taking the width and drop of the window recess. On the other hand bay windows, conservatories, perfect fit blinds or outside blinds will prove more challenging.
When we measure blinds we need to consider the position where the blind will be fitted. Do the window handles protrude from the window. In older houses we need to make an allowance for telephone or electrical sockets positioned inside the window recess when we measure blinds. Does the door or window open into the room or conservatory. There are windows where Blind Fitting Expert can’t fit a blind because of the configuration of the door or window.
Outside blinds will extend beyond the wall or window to provide shading over a patio or window. Most awnings are nowadays electrically operated. We could cause serious damage should our outside blind collide with a door or drainpipe.
In the conservatory we measure blinds to fit on a vertical surface. Blind Fitting Expert can normally easily see where the blinds should be positioned. A vertical surface on a wall can be tricky until you know how.
Most window blinds are fitted inside the window recess. This is the easiest situation in which to measure blinds. Your window blind will be manufactured using the tight width and drop dimensions from side to side and top to bottom. Record the measurements from one side of the plaster to the other and from the plaster down to the window sill to the nearest millimetre and always use a steel tape measure.
