Luxaflex Duette Pleated Blinds

Luxaflex Duette shades are designed to control light and privacy as desired, and are available in a wide assortment of beautiful fabrics, rich structures and colours in three transparencies.

Luxaflex Duette pleated blinds give a beautiful pleat pattern to windows of various shapes, with three pleated blind widths available for fitting, developed for specific window sizes. Different pleat widths are offered to be fitted – 25mm is a great choice for smaller sized windows, for instance turn and tilt and roof windows; 32mm looks sophisticated on medium and large sized windows; 64mm is specifically designed for fitting in extra large windows.

The Luxaflex Duette batiste pleated blind fabric range has an extended colour programme that allows customers to fit the same colour in every room of the home and be flexible with the transparency. Depending on the amount of privacy that is desired and the amount of incoming light wanted, a different transparency can be fitted every room. Fitting opaque and transparent Duette shades of the same colour and fabric in a room can create a beautiful atmosphere.

Patrick the Long Haired Guinea Pig – Blind Fitting Expert

Patrick the long haired guinea pig.

Blind Fitting Expert met Patrick while fitting some Perfect Fit pleated blinds in bay windows and normal square windows in a lounge and some bedrooms. After fitting the window blinds I tried to photograph him but Patrick is very shy. His Mum lifted the top from his cage and he stuck his head out at the right moment.
The perfect fit blinds in Patrick’s house were operated from the bottom to the top. Perfect fit blinds are under tension and can be adjusted to hang in any position from open to closed. This configuration is better for privacy especially when the blinds are fitted in ground floor windows.

Energy saving fabrics

Over the past few years energy prices have risen significantly, and as a result, domestic energy companies have rushed to increase domestic tariffs to heights never reached before.
For many people in the UK, the cost of heating homes in winter and cooling homes in summer is a real concern and if we believe the stories, there will never again be cheap energy.

The blind fitting industry has spent a great deal of time and money working to convince the commercial consumer to install the correct window blind shading systems to reduce the amount of solar gain experienced within commercial buildings thereby reducing the need and reliance on expensive to buy and operate air conditioning units. The reduction of solar gain has become an important factor when we talk to the commercial user and specifier of window blinds.
But what about the domestic consumer? How can they benefit from fitting the correct selection of energy saving window blind systems and fabrics.
Louvolite has responded to this situation for some time now. The starting point was understanding that if fitting blind fabrics featuring characteristics that reduce solar gain, then there will be a positive trade off for fitting blind fabrics that can be proven to have characteristics to reduce thermal loss. A reduction in thermal loss is far more significant to domestic consumers as this can work to reduce the energy required to heat their homes.

So Louvolite set about proving just that.

Certain physical fabric testing was carried out by the National Physical Laboratory with other tests carried out internally at Louvolite with approved equipment to recognised approved standards.

In reality, all window blind fabrics will create a form of insulation at a window, however until now, no company had set out to establish the savings by fitting the available window blinds and back this with credible information and figures. Not just percentage figures and formulaes, but pounds, shilling and pence figures that mean something to the consumer. As some window blind fabrics have characteristics that perform better than others, Louvolite has created a classification system to allow easy reference.
